"Meet Quadrivium President, Julie Rowland"

Quadrivium AdvisorsQuadrivium is a Business Coaching and Consulting Business.  In the world of business, it is difficult sometimes to know what steps to take to move your business forward.  Everyone gets stuck in what I call “Ground Hog Day” dream where you wake up every day with same to do list, the same tasks and goals that weren’t met and the hope that this year will be different.  Quadrivium helps set you on a path to success and we hold you accountable every step of the way.  Businesses do not have to go it alone.

Quadrivium President, Julie Rowland completed our Client Q&A:

Q: How did you come up with the name Quadrivium and what does it mean?

A: Quadrivium in Latin is the place where 4 things come together perfectly.  I figure it is my job to bring Policies, Procedures, Systems and Controls into place so your business can run on all cylinders.  My daughter actually came up with the name as she is the wordsmith in the family!

Q: What is the makeup of your ideal client (size, industry, challenges, etc)?

A: My ideal client is in the service industry and has been in business 3-8 years.  They have fewer than 50 employees and are spending ¾ of their time working in the business and not running the business. Their profits are stagnant, and they want to work less and make more!

Q: What do you like most about your partnership with OfficeKey and (how long have you been here)?

A: I’ve been with OfficeKey over three years now and it fits me perfectly.  I have clients all over the city, so the availability of multiple locations is perfect.  I also spend the majority of my time at my client’s places of businesss, so I do not need be in an office every day. The offices are beautiful and the large conference rooms allow me to teach my seminars right on site. And my clients always think it is such a smart business move not paying for a big office since I work with them on their expenses!

Julie Rowland of Quadrivium AdvisorsQ: If you could have dinner with one historical figure who would it be and why?

A: My dad.  He died when I was 4 and I do not have any memories of him.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

A: I am not sure it is a superpower, but I would love to be able to “beam myself up”.  My children do not live in the state and I would love to transport myself there with just a nod of the head or a simple command.

Q: What is your favorite movie or tv show?

A: Currently The Great British Baking Show.  I have seen every episode multiple times, and then watch it again.  One of my goals is to spend 20 days overseas baking and cooking with the best!  I love trying out their recipes.

Q: What is your favorite book?

I just finished, for the third time, The Life We Bury by Allen Askens.  A college student has an assignment to write the life story of an elderly stranger.  He chooses a Vietnam Vet who was convicted of murder and spent 30 years in jail.  He is now dying in a nursing home and agrees to be interviewed.  The story is not about proving him innocent but trying to reconcile the hero with the convicted murderer and understanding life’s journeys.

Who is your favorite singer or band?

A: I have to say Amy Grant and Vince Gill just because I was lucky enough to have dinner with them one night.  It was just the three of us and it was awesome.

"AccuSource Group"

AccuSource Group is a leading national recruiting firm in the healthcare technology industry.  Their clients are the software and consulting firms who are paving the roads of healthcare delivery by driving better outcomes through digital transformation. Their president, Brian Whitehill, completed our Client Q&A.

Q. How does AccuSource distinguish itself from other executive search firms?

A. We have two major distinguishers.  Our niche is the primary. Likely, there’s no other firm in the country as committed to industry & specialty as we are.  We build out sales organizations from the ground up in one space only. We’re in constant search for the best and brightest enterprise sales executives in the country.  Most firms wouldn’t sell out for such a small niche. We’re also distinguished by our boutique approach. Each search is customized and managed to meet the unique needs of our clients.  I believe our clients would tell you that our approach is a lot more scientific than our competitors.

Q. What skills are the mostly highly sought after in the industry you serve?

A. Enterprise software sales at the C-level in hospitals and managed care organizations.  If you’re a top 10%’er who fits this description, you can expect to receive a call at some point from one of our recruiters.  You don’t have to find us… we know who you are! We take a more holistic approach with these high-valued individuals by focusing more on their long-term career objectives vs. just filling an open req with one of our clients.  They love it and so do we.

Q. What is the future of the healthcare technology market that you operate in?

A. It’s an exciting time to be in the healthcare technology business today.  We’re on the ground floor of a revolution happening in the world of AI and genomics.  Like Amazon’s checkout, I suspect that one day soon we’ll be able to walk through a scanner which will compute everything from hypertension to MRI’s to genetic predispositions all in one sweep.  Commercial airlines are flying on auto pilot. Google is driving vehicles. Doctorless healthcare is not far behind, but don’t tell that to the doctors!

Q. What do you like most about your partnership with OfficeKey?

A. Sherri’s fist bump is something I look forward to each morning. Not joking. I love coming into a beautiful office each day where everyone is head’s down and focused on winning.  I’ve worked in other shared offices, my own office, and from home, but never felt as energized as I do with the team at OfficeKey.

Brian Whitehill, AccuSource GroupQ. How do you spend time outside of work?

A. I’m a golf nut! Maketewah is my CC.  Been playing for 30+ years and still get giddy on Saturday mornings in anticipation of a competitive round.  You know that Blake Shelton song, “The more I drink”” …. Yeah, it’s like that… “The more I golf, the more I golf, the more I golf” …  Can’t get enough!

Q. If you could have dinner with one historical figure (living or dead) who would it be and why?

I’ll give you one of each for the same reason.  I most admire people who can rise above during extremely stressful moments and eras…. Who somehow can keep it together without getting beat by the naysayers who want to drag them down into the mud… Who keep their composure against impossible odds…Who may stumble but never fall…  No one has ever done it better than Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.

Q. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

A. Rising above during extremely stressful moments and eras….keep it together without getting beat by the naysayers…keeping composure against impossible odds…

Q. What is your favorite travel destination?

A. I’m a tree hugger.  I like to golf, hike, be near water, while also in a forest, while also in the mountains…. = Lake Tahoe.

Q. What is your favorite movie or tv show?

Tough to beat Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.  “Get yourself something real nice, Clark.

Q. What is your favorite book?

A. I’m into the psychology of human behavior development so I’d say Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

Q. What is your favorite singer or band?

A. My mom taught me there was only two types of music:  Country… and Western. I absolutely love Jerry Lee Lewis’ country songs…Killer Country.

"Dr. Rea Waldon – KDDK Legacy Group"

KDDK Legacy Group came about after 25+ years working with business owners and their firms. The company was named with an intention: The letters represent the first initials of my grandchildren; the purpose is to create a legacy for them. For the firms, I serve it is sharing the knowledge I have obtained through the years as a commercial lender so that others can create their legacy.

Q: Who is your ideal client?

A: My ideal client is an individual or leadership team that is seeking to grow and expand its operations. They should have an established product and customer base. Many ask what sales size; my response is that a $1MM graphic design firm is not the same as a $1MM construction firm.  So while sales size doesn’t matter the stage of the business does.

Q: You have degrees in multiple academic fields and have work experience in several industries.  Which of those experiences has had the most profound impact on what you do today?

A: All of my education and experiences impact what I do today.  The diversity of knowledge allows me to bring forth best practices from multiple industries and apply them to individual customer needs.  For instance, the regulatory environment in banking provides a solid understanding of how to establish process and procedures; the IT education allows me to help identify areas where technology can enhance operations.  I have worked in for profit and not for profit firms and each is a business. I always say “non-profit” is a tax status not how you do business. Regardless of how it is structured; there are still five major components of running an organization.

Q: What is the best career advice you ever received?

A: I am one of those type A persons with lots of ideas.  My manager told me to slow down, wait for people to catch up….basically he told me I needed to learn how to listen.

Q: What do you like most about your partnership with OfficeKey?

I like the flexibility; my office is my home, however, OfficeKey provides a venue for me to meet with one person or host a large group for training.  In addition, the technology is well-suited for my needs and the staff is great!

Q: How do you spend time outside of work?

I am Granny Extraordinaire and I like to make jewelry.

Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?

A: Any place near the ocean.  Though I do like visiting my sister in Switzerland.

Q: If you could have dinner with one historical figure (living or dead) who would it be and why?

A. Martin Luther King or Gandhi; I am working hard to find that peace of mind that comes with having faith in what could be.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

A: I don’t know if it’s a superpower but I would love to be like Jeannie and blink.

Q: What is your favorite movie or tv show?

A: Mystery Theater 1000, 2000, 3000.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Q: What is your favorite singer or band?

A: Hum, that depends…Prince, Luther, Mary J Blige.

"Meet Yevette Jessen of RE/MAX United Associates"

Cincinnati Realtor, Yevette JessenRE/MAX United Associates is a full-service real estate company serving the Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky areas, selling, buying or leasing residential or commercial real estate. They are part of a worldwide franchise that can serve clients across the globe. RE/MAX is an acronym for the original company name, Real Estate Maximums.

Q: How long have you been in the real estate business and what is the most dramatic change since you started?

A: I am the sole owner and broker of the company.  I’ve been in the real estate business for 41 years.  I’ve seen a lot of changes in my tenure. A few of the changes I’ve seen were the crazy interest rates in the early 1980s;  19%-21% to be exact, and the recession in 2008 – that’s when we developed plans to help distressed home sellers.

Q: Are there any trends in the industry that we should know about going into 2019?

A: We are seeing a slowdown in the marketplace.  Part of the reason is the typical seasonal slowdown.  I believe the other is buyers are not prepared to pay the inflated prices for homes that we saw in the Spring of 2018 due to the lack of inventory.   Inventory is rising, list prices are coming down. We should be back to a balanced market which means it may take homes 4-6 months to sell a typical home in our market.

Q: What markets in Cincinnati are you seeing the most activity or growth?

A: Urban living has become very popular.  OTR (Over The Rhine), Oakley, and downtown living.  Walking to restaurants and gathering places is an appeal to a lot of today’s buyers.

Q: What do you like most about your partnership with OfficeKey and (how long have you been here)?

A: Real estate today is mobile. There is very little need for an agent to have a “physical office” in today’s world.  We have a corporate office centrally located in Montgomery but having the opportunity to meet clients for meetings and closings at the various OfficeKey locations is the ideal situation for our agents and clients.

Q: How do you spend time outside of work?Learn about RE/MAX United

A: I spend time with friends and family when not working. I also love vacations!  I often say, “I work for vacation”. One of her recent trips was to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta!

Q: What is your favorite singer or band?

A: I love all Country music bands but my all time favorite entertainer is Elton John.
